The Mobile Legal Help Center (MLHC) was created through a partnership between NYLAG and the New York State Courts Access to Justice Program. It is the first legal aid office and the first rolling courtroom in the country. Lawyers provide advice, advice and representation in complete cases to clients directly in the vehicle. Six days a week, the vehicle visits remote neighborhoods in New York, Long Island, Westchester and Rockland counties and reaches clients who would otherwise not have access to free legal services due to disabilities, travel barriers, child care issues, fears of revealing their immigration status, or because community organizations in their neighborhood cannot legally accommodate local admission.
